The very first Microsoft windows is launched on 20th Nov. in 1985, its version was version 1.0. There was lesser number of functions in it and could not get good degree of functionality. But Microsoft was very confident that it would attract the consumers. This was an extended version of MS DOS. This was considered to be used for toy applications. Microsoft second windows version was released in 1987. It was for graphical applications and contains word and EXCEL. People could run that windows from DOS. Windows/286 2.1 and Windows/386 2 was released after these version these versions contain more functionality.
Microsoft next version was 3.0, which was released in 1990. It was compiled on 16 bit processor. Later its multimedia version was released. Then improved version of Microsoft windows was 3.1 and NT that contain good functionalities but less than good OS. After this a series of windows versions started like Windows 95, windows 98, windows 2000 and the very latest version is windows vista. These all windows contain a lot of versions and newer versions contain more and more functionalities. Hope these efforts of Microsoft will gave us much and more good things that we have ever expected.
