As we know that communications and computer applications revolutionized the whole world. It becomes easy to understand the problem solving activities of today’s world. As at one side, software provides us help to do our work, on the other side there are some people that are trying to disturb others work by making such type of applications that can harm others data. In case of the data loss, a company can loss its all records that can cause a serious damage to an organization. To remain safe from this hectic situation, antivirus software is must for us.
Now the question is that how these viruses are generated. Its answer is that people try to get things in an easy and inexpensive way so they try some illegal ways to go ahead. For this purpose they make this type of things.
A Short History About The Evolution Of Viruses:
1945: A computer program error was discovered in navy computers and the lady who found it called its name a “BUG”.
1949: Von Neumann who was a scientist of computer architecture discovered some self replicating programs.
1960: Company AT&T introduces first modem in the world.
1963: ASCII code was developed by programmers and information was allowed to exchange.
1964: AT&T started to control telephone calls for finding different things.
1969: UNIX operating system was developed for performing different tasks at the same time.
1969: An ARPANET was developed by research groups, it was a type of network that was started to use by government and universities.
1972: A scientist John Draper discovered a whistle that was made of plastic that can unlock AT&T telephone network and can made free calls and change the whole network.
1972: Co-founder of Apple computers discovered his own blue box and sold it to a university.
1974: ARPANET gives its first performance to the public.
1979: Engineers discovered a computer program that was the ancestor of today’s viruses that can harm data.
1983: Fred Cohen describes the term computer virus these are the programs that can affect the other programs.
1984: In 1984, cyberspace was developed used to explain the computer networks.
1986: One bigger bug that creates a lot of problem in computer systems is created by Pakistan’s programmer.
1988: 23 years old programmer created a program that disturbs the ARPANET. It disables 6000 PCs of network and that person got punished.
1991: Norton anti virus is created.
1994: Untrained email users forward some mails under the heading of well wishes that contained a lot of viruses that started to circulate.
1995: Windows 95 was released and scientists started to work for their security.
1998: In 1998, two teenagers affect the 500 military systems.
1999: Melissa virus disturbs many computers and made loss of approximately 80 $ billion dollars. It started to send emails of word document to out look express.
2000: “I LOVE U” virus was created that uses the same technique of Melissa and created a great trouble for computer systems.
2001: Another big virus was created that started to send digital pictures in mails.
2001: red worm virus disturbs thousands of computers using Windows NT and 2000.
2001: NIMDA virus destroys thousands of systems.
2002: A denial of service attack occurs that disturbs all internet functions.
2003: Slammer virus disturbs thousands of PCs in just three hours.
2004: My doom virus was created that was very spreading but creates a little problem.
There are many antivirus software are present in the market or on the internet. These antivirus soft wares are free at the internet and we can get them easily. The persons who have registered versions of MS windows can easily protect their PCs by updating the windows regularly.
